Quick answer

BBS at Tribhuvan University is a four-year programme on an annual examination system, with no entrance test. That leaves time to work or study CA alongside. BBA is a four-year, eight-semester, 120-credit programme. It has an entrance test (CMAT at Tribhuvan University), internal assessment, presentations and an internship. Both are bachelor’s degrees in management and qualify you for the same bank, Lok Sewa and master’s entry requirements.

Management is the largest field of study in Nepal. It had 282,836 of the country’s 633,053 higher-education students in 2080/81, according to the University Grants Commission. Most of them are choosing between these two degrees. The names sound alike and the jobs overlap, but the way you study for four years is very different. This comparison uses the universities’ own curricula.

BBS in Nepal: how it works

The Bachelor of Business Studies “extends over four academic years”, each ending in an annual examination set by the university. There are 19 courses worth 1,950 marks and a 50-mark final project. You specialise in accounting, finance, human resources or marketing. The university describes its aim as developing students “into competent managers for any sector of organized activity”.

  • Classes are usually in the morning or evening, and attendance rules are lighter than in BBA, so many students work in the day.
  • It combines well with CA. A year-end examination leaves room for ICAN’s June and December sessions. See the CA course in Nepal.
  • It is offered almost everywhere, including community campuses outside the cities.
  • The cost is low at constituent and community campuses. We found no fee figure published by the university, so ask the campus for the full four-year amount.

BBA in Nepal: how it works

The Bachelor of Business Administration is 120 credit hours across eight semesters. That is 84 in management and allied subjects, 12 in computer, 18 in a specialisation, and a summer project and an internship of 3 credits each. The university says it is designed “to fill up the middle level managerial positions in the rapidly growing business sector in Nepal and abroad”. It must be completed within seven years.

  • Entrance: CMAT, the Central Management Admission Test. It has 100 objective questions: 25 each in verbal ability, quantitative ability, logical reasoning and general awareness. You need at least 40% to reach the interview. In 2026 the form was open from 15 June to 4 August, the test was on 8 August and the fee was Rs 1,000.
  • Daytime, full-time study with 80% attendance, presentations, case studies, group work and continuous internal marks.
  • An internship is built in, which is often where the first job comes from.
  • Seats are limited and campuses select on the CMAT score, the interview and past results.

BBA in Nepal fees

Fees vary widely between universities and colleges, and most are not published by the university. One that is published: Kathmandu University School of Management lists a total programme cost of Rs 9,60,000 for its BBA (Emphasis) for the Fall 2026 intake, plus Rs 10,000 caution money. The application fee is Rs 1,500. Entry needs 40% or CGPA 1.6, with at least D+ in each subject at +2. Tribhuvan University and Pokhara University colleges set their own fees. Before admission, ask for the complete figure for all eight semesters, including examination and university registration fees.
