CEE cut-off marks: the score you need for MBBS, BDS and nursing

The pass mark is not fixed: it is the 50th percentile of the candidates who sat that program's paper, so it moves every year. These are MEC's figures for the round whose category-wise result was published on 20 September 2024.

What decides an MBBS seat is your rank. These are the scores at chosen ranks in the last two rounds MEC's lists could be read for. There are 2,635 MBBS seats in 2025/26, according to CollegeInfoNepal.

• To be in the top 2,000 took about 100 in 2025 and 106.5 in 2024 — for example 110 right and 40 wrong is 100.
• To be in the top 500 took about 133.5 in 2025: 140 right and 26 wrong is 133.5.
• Every rank needed more in 2024 — about 6 marks more at rank 2,000 — so plan on the higher of the two.

The same reading for the other large programs, MECEE-BL 2025. BDS has 625 seats, BSc Nursing 2,430 and B Pharm 835 in 2025/26, so the last row of each is roughly where the seats run out.

A cut-off near 50 does not mean the paper is easy. Because it is the middle score, half of all candidates fall below it every year, whatever the paper is like.

• The cut-off only qualifies you. It puts you on the merit list; it does not give you a seat.
• Seats go by rank, through MEC's online priority setting and matching, college by college, in the order you choose them.
• Some seats are reserved. MEC's lists rank candidates in the Open list and in reserved groups — women, Adibasi Janajati, Madhesi, Dalit, Tharu, Muslim, Khas Arya, people with disabilities, backward regions, families of martyrs and the disappeared, and the Army welfare fund — each split by government, private or foreign school. A reserved place can be matched lower down than the open list reaches.
• Scholarship and paying seats are separate, and which you are matched to depends on your rank and the order you put them in.

Turn the table into a target on the paper. A score of 100 is, for example, 110 right and 40 wrong with 50 left blank — about four questions right in every seven you answer. Sit a full paper and see where your score would have ranked: the free CEE mock test marks it exactly as MEC does, −0.25 a wrong answer, and shows which units lost the marks.
