Your code — paste it where the widget should appear

<div class="careerkyt-widget" data-widget="date"><a href="https://careerkyt.com/nepali-calendar/">CareerKyt</a></div>
<script async src="https://careerkyt.com/widget.js"></script>

Preview — live, as your readers will see it

It takes the width of the space you put it in, so it fits a sidebar or a full column. Keep the CareerKyt link: it is the widget’s credit line, and it keeps the widgets free.

How to add it

WordPress

  1. Open the page or post, or Appearance → Widgets for a sidebar.
  2. Add a Custom HTML block.
  3. Paste the code and save.

Blogger

  1. Go to Layout and choose Add a Gadget where it should appear.
  2. Pick HTML/JavaScript.
  3. Paste the code and save.

Any other website

  1. Paste the code into the page's HTML where the widget should sit.
  2. Add it once per widget. The script line can be shared by all of them.

Some hosted plans strip scripts from posts (WordPress.com’s free plan does). There the widget shows as a plain CareerKyt link; it needs a plan, or a self-hosted site, that allows custom HTML.

Questions site owners ask

Is it free?

Yes, for any website, personal or commercial, with no sign-up and no account.

Where do the numbers come from?

The date is worked out in your reader's browser from the Bikram Sambat calendar the rest of CareerKyt uses, on Nepal time, so a reader abroad still sees today in Kathmandu. The tithi is the tithi at sunrise in Kathmandu from our precomputed table. Holidays are from the Ministry of Home Affairs' notice of public holidays for 2083 in the Nepal Rajpatra. Exchange rates are Nepal Rastra Bank's own published buying and selling rates, read live from NRB's public API.

Does it slow my site down or track my readers?

The script is about 20 KB, loads without blocking the page, and fetches no fonts or images. It sets no cookies and records nothing. The only other request is the exchange-rate widget asking NRB for the day's rates, kept for half an hour on the reader's device.

Will it match my design?

It takes the full width of wherever you put it, and has light and dark colours, or Auto, which follows each reader's phone setting. Your site's CSS cannot break it: the widget draws itself in an isolated layer.

Do I have to keep the CareerKyt link?

Please do. It is the widget's credit line, the one thing we ask in return, and it lets your readers find the full calendar or the converter if they want more.

Is there a gold price widget?

Not yet. The gold association's rates cannot be read live from a reader's browser, and a widget showing yesterday's gold price on your site would be worse than none.
