SEE GPA calculator for Class 10

The SEE GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points. Nepali, English, Mathematics and Science and Technology carry 5 credit hours each; Social Studies and the two optional subjects carry 4 each, 32 in all. Multiply each grade point by its credit hours, add them up and divide by 32. A sample sheet below comes to 3.43.

Type the grade (A+, B) or the marks you got in each part. Leave a subject blank to skip it.

Enter a theory and an internal grade for at least one subject.

The seven SEE subjects are already here with their credit hours. Type the grade or the marks for the theory paper and the internal assessment of each, and the GPA is worked out the way the SEE grade sheet does it. If your sheet shows different credit hours, change them to match.

SEE subjects and credit hours

Each subject is 75 marks of theory and 25 of internal assessment, and its credit hours are divided the same way.

  • Nepali — 5 credit hours: theory 3.75, internal 1.25 (75/25 marks)
  • English — 5 credit hours: theory 3.75, internal 1.25 (75/25 marks)
  • Mathematics — 5 credit hours: theory 3.75, internal 1.25 (75/25 marks)
  • Science and Technology — 5 credit hours: theory 3.75, internal 1.25 (75/25 marks)
  • Social Studies — 4 credit hours: theory 3, internal 1 (75/25 marks)
  • Optional I — 4 credit hours: theory 3, internal 1 (75/25 marks)
  • Optional II — 4 credit hours: theory 3, internal 1 (75/25 marks)

How the SEE GPA is calculated

GPA = Σ(credit hours × grade point) ÷ Σ credit hours. Subjects with more credit hours count for more, so an A in Mathematics lifts the GPA more than an A in an optional subject.

A sample sheet, 32 credit hours, comes to 3.43:

  • Nepali: theory A, internal A+ — subject average 3.70
  • English: theory B+, internal A — subject average 3.30
  • Mathematics: theory B, internal A — subject average 3.00
  • Science and Technology: theory B+, internal A+ — subject average 3.40
  • Social Studies: theory A, internal A+ — subject average 3.70
  • Optional I: theory B+, internal A — subject average 3.30
  • Optional II: theory A, internal A+ — subject average 3.70

SEE grading system: marks to grade

For the 75-mark theory paper:

  • 67.5 and above — A+ — 4.0
  • 60 and above — A — 3.6
  • 52.5 and above — B+ — 3.2
  • 45 and above — B — 2.8
  • 37.5 and above — C+ — 2.4
  • 30 and above — C — 2.0
  • 26.25 and above — D — 1.6

NG, and what to do about it

A subject is graded only if you reach 35% in the theory paper and 40% in the internal assessment. Below either, the subject is NG (not graded) and no GPA is printed until it is cleared in the grade improvement exam.

For the 25-mark internal assessment: 22.5 for A+, 20 for A, 17.5 for B+, 15 for B, 12.5 for C+, 10 for C.

After the result

Colleges set their own GPA cut-offs for Class 11, and Science usually asks for more than Management or Humanities. Check the college's notice rather than a figure quoted online.

For the percentage band a GPA stands for, see GPA to percentage. For Class 11 and 12, use the NEB GPA calculator. Your school issues the character certificate you will need for admission.

Common questions

How is SEE GPA calculated?

Each subject's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, the results are added, and the total is divided by the total credit hours, 32 for the usual seven subjects.

How many credit hours do SEE subjects have?

Nepali, English, Mathematics and Science and Technology have 5 each. Social Studies and the two optional subjects have 4 each. The total is 32.

What is the pass mark in SEE?

35% in the theory paper, which is 26.25 out of 75, and 40% in internal assessment, 10 out of 25. Below either the subject is NG.

What GPA is A+ in SEE?

A+ is grade point 4.0, for 90% and above. A GPA of 4.0 needs A+ in every theory and internal part.

Can I calculate GPA from marks instead of grades?

Yes. Type the marks you got in each part and the calculator converts them to the grade first.
