Where to get it
- At the national parks counter in the Nepal Tourism Board building, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
- Or at a park gate: Dhunche, Kutumsang, Timbu or Thangpathan.
- The TIMS card comes from your trekking agency, with the licensed guide. The permit is for a single entry and cannot be transferred.
Who needs it
- The Langtang Valley, the Tamang Heritage Trail, Gosaikunda and Helambu are all inside the park.
- Side trips towards the Tibet border enter a restricted area (Gosaikunda Rural Municipality ward 1 and part of ward 2), which needs a restricted-area permit of USD 20 a week; the ordinary Langtang Valley trail is usually described as outside it.
- A tourist porter pays Rs 25, according to the park's 2019 brochure.

- VAT on the park fee: the department's Sagarmatha charter says the fee includes VAT; agency pages add 13% (Rs 3,390).
