- Online: fill in the form on NTNC's e-permit site (epermit.ntnc.org.np) and pay by Visa or Mastercard, which adds 2.9%. The permit is emailed to you.
- At a counter: NTNC's counters in Kathmandu and Pokhara take cash, with your passport or any valid identification.
- Carry it the whole way and register it at the check-posts. It is good for a single entry and cannot be transferred.
Who needs it
- Everyone entering the Annapurna Conservation Area: Annapurna Base Camp, the Annapurna Circuit, Poon Hill, Mardi Himal, Khopra, Mohare, Upper Mustang, Nar Phu, and the way out of the Manaslu Circuit at Dharapani.
- Pilgrims to Muktinath by road or on foot, many of them Indian: the temple is inside the conservation area.
- Foreigners and SAARC nationals also need a TIMS card and a licensed guide on most of these routes; Nepali citizens need neither.
Cost of the whole trek, by nationality: Annapurna Base Camp · Annapurna Circuit · Ghorepani Poon Hill · Mardi Himal · Upper Mustang · Manaslu Circuit.
What changed, and when
- Jun 2026NTNC's management plan for 2080/81–2084/85 calls the Rs 3,000 / Rs 1,000 fee "very low" and plans a revision. No new fee is in force.
What the sources disagree on
- The Nepali rate: NTB lists Rs 100; NTNC's own permit site gives no Nepali rate, and some agencies say Nepalis enter free.
