Kathmandu ma ahile pani pariraheko cha?
Cha, kehi thau ma. Kathmandu ko 15 km bhitra 16 gauge madhye 2 ma pachillo ek ghanta ma pani napiyo; sabai bhanda badhi Khokana ma 0.2 mm.
Does this show whether a road is flooded or waterlogged?
No. Nobody publishes that. A gauge measures the rain that fell where it stands; heavy rain in the last hour at the gauge nearest your route is a warning that low roads may hold water, not a report that they do.
Where do these readings come from, and how fresh are they?
From automatic rain gauges run by Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, published through the government's BIPAD Portal. Stations report every 15 to 30 minutes. Only stations that reported in the last 3 hours are shown, and the page says when the latest reading was taken.
Why does the forecast say rain when the gauge near me is dry?
They answer different questions. The forecast is a model's expectation for an area about 9 km across over the coming hours. The gauge is what actually fell at one point in the hour just gone. In a valley shower it is normal for one to be right about Kalanki and the other about Baneshwor.
