How this forecast works
- The model. Forecasts come from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway), whose global forecast runs on ECMWF data and is corrected for each place's altitude — essential in Nepal, where Namche Bazaar and Everest Base Camp are 1,900 m apart.
- Every page, every 30 minutes. A scheduled job rebuilds every place's page with the latest forecast every half hour, day and night, whether or not anyone is visiting — so the forecast in the page itself is never more than about half an hour old.
- Live while you read. An open page refreshes itself every 10 minutes and whenever you come back to it. The line at the top says when it was last updated and which model run it shows.
- Nepal time. Days run midnight to midnight Nepal time (UTC+5:45), with the Nepali date and tithi beside each.
